Application conditions
The concrete surface to be painted must be dry and at least 4 weeks old. The relative humidity of concrete must be less than 97%. During application and drying, the air, surface and paint temperature must be at least +5º C, and relative humidity of air less than 80 %.
Unpainted surfaces:
Concrete floors: Remove cement glue coat with a grinding machine. Remove grinding dust.
Wooden floors: Remove all dirt, oil, dust and grease.
Previously painted surfaces:
Wash down previously painted surfaces with Maalipesu (Cleaning Agent), rinse thoroughly with water and allow to dry. Remove old, flaking paint. Sand the surfaces carefully and remove sanding dust.
Stir the paint thoroughly before use. Apply twice with brush, roller or spray. Dilute 20-25% with White Spirit 1050 for the first coat. The second coat can be applied after one day with unthinned or slighty thinned paint. Maintenance painting: Surfaces painted previously with Betolux Floor paint can be repainted with Betolux or Betolux Akva Floor paint. See Pretreatment: Previously painted surfaces.
Non-slip treatment: To increase grip on painted surfaces, Non-Slip Agent can be added to Betolux in the ratio of 0.33 l powder to 10 litres of undiluted paint. Mixing by hand is sufficient. Apply two final topcoats with “non-slip” paint. Apply “non-slip” paint to the entire floor area or parts of it marked off with tape. It is also suitable for stair step edges.
Cleaning of tools
White Spirit 1050 or Tikkurila Pensselipesu (Tool Cleaner)
Maintenance instructions
The painted surface will dry completely and reach its final durability and chemical resistance in approx. 1 month. Avoid cleaning during this period. Clean the surface with a brush, mop or duster, removing dirt with a neutral (pH 6-8) detergent.

Product consumption, when surface is...

Consumption varies depending on the surface to be treated and its condition. Absorption is affected e.g. by the surface roughness, moisture content level of timber and porosity. For example, log surface that has been untreated for a long time takes a lot more wood finish than a new surface to be treated.

When calculating the consumption, note that the consumption for round logs is 1.5 times higher than normal. Please also note the corner joints in the surface area.

Rounding up

As the filling rate is usually 90% (space for tinting), it is good to round up the liter amounts and reserve enough of the product so that the work is not interrupted unnecessarily, and colour will be even.
