Tikkurila Finngard Colour

Examples of use

The paint is suitable for new and old plaster or concrete facades.   It is not recommended on surfaces previously treated with lime and silicate paints or elastomer coatings.

Wide colour range

The paint is available in selected colours of ‘Façade Colour Card’,  NCS and RAL colour cards.  Such a wide selection of colours should meet everybody’s tastes.

Recommended uses
Traditional plasters lime-cement and cement, mineral plasters thin-film polymer, acrylic, fiber-cement boards and concrete. Renovation of mineral and dispersion coatings. Tikkurila Colour Finngard is not recommended for surfaces previously coated with elastomer coatings. The product is suitable for use inside the building to the premises not intended for human residence (eg. garages, basements, warehouses, etc).

Base paints
Colour Range
The colours from the Tikkurila "Facade" colour card and selected colors from the NCS and RAL. It is recommended to perform the appropriate color sample on the area. 1-2 m2. When choosing colors for facades, especially those exposed to intense sunlight, which can significantly heat up the surface recommend the use of color with a higher reflectance. We recommend the use of color whose reflectivity is greater than 20%. Light reflectance values are given in the Tikkurila " Facade" colour card.
Gloss grade
5-8 m2/l per one coat, depending on the absorbency and structure of the substrate, application method and painting tool used. Attempt to determine the performance for a given substrate. Make test painting in order to determine the coverage of the substrate.

Application method

Roller, spray or brush. 

Drying time at 23°C and 50% relative air humidity

In temp. +23 ±2°C, and relative air humitidy 50 ±5%, the surface is dry after up to 2 hours. Apply next coat after min. 6 hours. The drying times and recoating depends on film thickness, temperature, relative humidity during painting.

The results of the study are average values. Natural raw materials used may have a slight impact on the actual values in the table. The quality and characteristics of the product are retained.

Application conditions
Work at air and substrate temp. not lower than +5°C and not higher than +25°C. Avoid direct sunlight, relative humidity> 80%, rain and frost. Protect the paint coating from rain for min. 48 hours - the optimum temperature and humidity conditions (temperature +20°C, relative humidity below 55%). This interval under conditions of elevated humidity and lower temperatures of air and ground may be extended.
The substrate must be carrying, dry and clean. Humidity of painted substrates should not exceed 4%. Products can be applied min. 16 hours after priming with Tikkurila Finngard Nanoprimer. Mix the paint thoroughly before application. After priming with diluted paint apply topcoat after min. 6 hours. Apply two coats in min. 6 hours intervals. In order to avoid streaking and discoloration apply the paint in continuously way. Technological breaks schedule at the edges of the walls. Provide adequate amount of paint from one production batch. The paint from different batches should be mixed before use. Do not apply on lime coatings and distemper paint.
Surfaces not previously painted:
The surfaces of new cement-lime, cement and concrete seasoned min. 4 weeks. Remove loose parts of the ground, dirt, greasy stains and salt efflorescence. Remove algae, lichens and fungi. Wash the facade with water at high pressure. Unevenness and cracks equalize with mortar with composition similar to the original. Prime the surface with Tikkurila Finngard Nanoprimer, Tikkurila Finngard Primer W (recommended as a product that can restrict the appearance of salt efflorescence on the surface topcoat) or paint Tikkurila Finngard Colour diluted with water in amounts up to 20%.
Surfaces previously painted:
Remove loose and loose material substrate, peeling paint, dirt, greasy stains and salt efflorescence. Wash the facade with water at high pressure. Permanently remove algae, lichens and fungi. Remove the chalky substrate (eg. by blasting). Unevenness  and cracks equalize with mortar with composition similar to the original.  Prime the surface with Tikkurila Finngard Nanoprimer or paint Tikkurila Finngard Colour diluted with water in amounts up to 20%. Before the renovation of old coatings should be performed test application that will assess the adhesion of the new paint to the painted surface, eg. by cross-cut and allow for evaluation of the appearance and color of the coating. A positive result determines the use of the product.
Cleaning of tools
Before washing tools should be thoroughly wiped in order to remove as much paint. Clean tools with water immediately after the completion of the work.

Contains 4,5-dichloro-2-octyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one and 3-iodo-2-propynyl butylcarbamate. This product contains a biocidal product for the preservation of the product during storage. Contains reaction mass of: 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one [EC no. 247-500-7] and 2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one [EC no. 220-239-6] (3:1), 1,2-benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one and 2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one. Empty containers and packaging containing residues of paints pass to the point for the collection of this waste. Detailed information on the possibility of collecting waste from your local Municipal Office.
Transport and storage in temp. of +5°C to +25°C, in packaging protected from influences of atmospheric conditions. Protect paint from frost.
Shelf life: 36 months from production date, in factory closed packaging


The condition of the durability of the painted coating is to perform in accordance with the construction art such elements as min. horizontal and vertical insulation of the building, metal treatment, gutters and others.

Product consumption, when surface is...


Consumption varies depending on the surface to be treated and its condition. Absorption is affected e.g. by the surface roughness, moisture content level of timber and porosity. For example, log surface that has been untreated for a long time takes a lot more wood finish than a new surface to be treated.

When calculating the consumption, note that the consumption for round logs is 1.5 times higher than normal. Please also note the corner joints in the surface area.

Rounding up

As the filling rate is usually 90% (space for tinting), it is good to round up the liter amounts and reserve enough of the product so that the work is not interrupted unnecessarily, and colour will be even.
