Priming is an important part of painting
Prime the bare wood surface before finishing
Valtti Base (Pohjuste) Priming Oil
Protective pretreatment that is absorbed into wood
Traditional colourless priming oil is absorbed into the wood making untreated timber water repellent and providing protection against microbial and insect attack.
Valtti Pohjuste Priming Oil is a colourless protective agent that permeates deep into the wood and makes the surface water-repellent.
Makes finishing easier
Pohjuste priming oil can be overcoated with a wide range of Tikkurila stains and opaque topcoats and is an ideal solution for the treatment of glulam beams and other site timbers which may be stored outside prior to installation.

Valtti Base (Pohjuste) - Full-matt solventborne pretreatment for wood
Valtti Base is a solventborne priming oil and pretreatment for wood. It penetrates into timber providing protection against weathering, moisture absorbsion and microbial growth.
For protection and priming of timber and wooden structures before surface treatment. Suitable for sawn and planed timber, woodwork, logs, thermally treated and impregnated wood in exterior use.
Finishing coats are recommended to be applied as soon as possible, because colourless priming oil does not protect the wood surface from the adverse effects of sunlight.
Brush, dipping or spray.

Safety data sheet
InstructionsConsumption varies depending on the surface to be treated and its condition. Absorption is affected e.g. by the surface roughness, moisture content level of timber and porosity. For example, log surface that has been untreated for a long time takes a lot more wood finish than a new surface to be treated.
When calculating the consumption, note that the consumption for round logs is 1.5 times higher than normal. Please also note the corner joints in the surface area.
