How Do I Paint My Fireplace?

Excellent heat resistance

Muuri is particularly suitable for interior surfaces exposed to varying and higher than normal temperatures and particularly suitable for fireplaces. Tintable Muuri can withstand temperatures up to +180 °C and 300 °C if it is un-tinted dry heat.

Suited for painting over: Concrete, lime, lime cement, cement plaster, sandlime brick and brick surfaces as well as mineral board surfaces indoors. Suitable also for surfaces previously painted with lime, lime cement, cement and silicate paints.

Instructions

Painting conditions

The surface to be painted must be clean, dry and solid and the temperature of the air and surface at least +10 °C and the relative humidity of the air below 80 %.

Can Muuri Be Used on A Stone Fireplace Surround?

Yes it can. In addition, Muuri is suitable for use on concrete, lime, lime cement, cement plaster, sandlime brick and brick surfaces as well as mineral board surfaces indoors. Suitable also for surfaces previously painted with lime, lime cement, cement and silicate paints.

I have a porous red brick internal chimney breast. I am assuming this paint is ideal, but can you recommend a sealant/base paint to use as the brick will suck it up like a sponge. Also, can you confirm it will give a smoothish matt look, brick allowing. I don’t want it to look like pebble dash or wood chip if you get my meaning? Thanks.

Muuri is the correct paint for your applications and is designed surfaces exposed to varying and higher than normal temperatures and particularly suitable for fireplaces. Tintable Muuri can withstand temperatures up to +180 °C and 300 °C if it is un-tinted dry heat.

In this particular application, it is best to apply two coats with the first coat thinned by 10% as per the products data sheet, this will even out the absorption and the silicate nature of the paint will provide a good even surface for the second coat.
