A Guide to Tikkurila Roof Paint
There are very few places you can paint that will take quite as much of a beating as a roof does. Constant exposure to the elements, is impractical to maintain on a regular basis, and a cause of some very expensive problems if something goes wrong.
It's fair to say that your roof is an area you won't want to skimp on quality.
This is where our collection of premium Nordic paints steps into focus. Crafted from only the highest quality materials that can endure the challenges being outdoors imposes.
Our range of exterior paints for roofs can be broken down by their purpose with solutions for cleaning, priming surfaces, and a choice of top coats.
Let's run through each.
Roof Cleaning Products
Starting with cleaning we have Panssaripesu. This is our cleaning agent which is designed to clean sheet metal roofs. It effectively removes grease, soot, pollen, and any other contaminants like organic growth from the surface.
Roof Priming Products
We have two options here Postex Super Akva and Rostex Super. These are both suitable for use on a roof but do have their own differences. But we will guide you through that.
The Super Akva primer is a water-based solution that is anti-corrosive. It offers brilliant adhesion to metal, particularly zinc. It can work on both exterior and interior roofs. The Rostex Super is also an anti-corrosive primer but offers outstanding adhesion to steel, zinc-coated steel, or roughened alluminium surfaces. It also works well on roofs that need to withstand some stress.

Roof Paint
There are two to choose from with Panssarimaali and Panssari Akva.
Panssarimaali is a solvent-borne alkyd paint for sheet metal and other exterior metal surfaces that dries in a semi-gloss finish. To help withstand the harsh conditions roof coatings have to endure it has active corrosion prevention pigments. This will offer a little peace of mind when it comes to metal roofs open to the elements.
The other option was the Panssari Akva. This is a semi-matt acrylic paint well suited to metal surfaces like a roof. The key benefits of this option for roof paint are the brilliant colour and gloss retention it has. Great for a roof that will be a bit more vibrant rather than a more dull slate light grey paint or like an asphalt black. It also offers great adhesion on many substrates.
