Looking to redecorate your home? Tikkurila has an extensive range of interior paint products, each designed with a different end-use in mind. Whether you’re refreshing your bathroom, kitchen, or bedroom – we’re here to help you make the right choices to get you the highest quality, long-lasting results. Take a look at our interior paint product guide below to get started!

 Interior Product Guide: Living Room

Living Room & Bedroom

Our Optiva range is the perfect solution for the walls in your living room, bedroom, and hallway. A stain-resistant, easy to apply paint with zero VOCs and suitable for high traffic areas.

Optiva paint is available in 4 different sheen levels; Super Matt, Matt, Satin Matt, and Semi-Matt. The product numbers associated with the paint match one of these finishes (the lower the number, the flatter – or more matt – the finish). Not sure what we mean by sheen?  Why not check out our handy guide to sheen levels here.

Available in thousands of colours, and in 3 different tin sizes; 1 litre, 3 litres, and 9 litres (while Optiva 5 is also available in our 0.5-litre sample pot size). To help you achieve a high-class finish, this range also includes Optiva Primer – the perfect preparation product that provides an optimal surface for subsequent finishing coats.

Or perhaps you are looking for a crisp, white colour palette? Then Optiva White is the one for you. Available in true white, and 19 further unique shades of broken white that will illuminate your room.

 Interior Product Guide: Bathroom

Bathroom

When it comes to decorating, there are few rooms in your house as challenging as the bathroom. Frequently filled with steam, this is an area that is not only wet but also tends to be cleaned with some of the harshest chemicals, so the paint you use in this room needs to be able to deal with these things in a sustained way.

Tikkurila’s Luja hygiene range is specifically designed with these challenges in mind. Luja is a high-performance, anti-mould paint designed to provide incredibly hard-wearing film suitable for repeated cleaning. Suitable for use on new and previously painted walls, ceilings, and tiles.

This is a water-based range with ultra-low VOCs and available in 3 finishes; Matt (Luja 7), Semi-Matt (Luja 20), and Gloss (Luja 40). We recommend pairing with the Luja Primer for the best results.

 Interior Product Guide: Kitchens

Kitchen

Similarly to bathrooms, products used in kitchens need to a stand up to a challenging combination of steam and grime, the result of repetitive cooking and cleaning. Easy to clean and durable solutions are the key to achieving a quality finish that won’t let you down under these pressures. Depending on which surface in the kitchen you are painting, Tikkurila has a product to suit:

  • Kitchen walls: Our top recommendation for kitchen walls is our Luja paint. Formulated to resist moisture, staining and general wear and tear, Luja has a tough finish – the perfect solution for busy family kitchens.
  • Kitchen splashback and tiles:  After cleaning down your surface thoroughly to remove any residue, prime with our Otex Akva adhesive primer, followed by Luja as a topcoat.
  • Kitchen cupboards: To protect your woodwork whilst maintaining complete scrubbability, we recommend our Helmi range.

 Interior Product Guide: Kid's Room

Kid's Room

When it comes to decorating your kid’s bedroom, you want to choose a paint that does not release harmful compounds even when used for an extended period. Tikkurila’s wide range of products includes both paints and lacquers that meet these requirements, and they are suitable for painting everything in the kids’ room, including the walls, furniture, and toys.

All of the Tikkurila paints suitable for kids’ rooms – such as Joker, Helmi, Taika, and Liitu – are in the highest M1 category of surface materials. The M1 Label shows that the products have been tested by an independent laboratory. Joker also bears the Allergy Label, awarded by the Allergy and Asthma Federation of Finland.

For the walls of children’s bedrooms and nurseries, we recommend our Joker paint. A high-performance matt emulsion with zero latex and ultra-low VOCs. It’s odourless, water-based and highly scrubbable (which might come in handy!)

Looking for something unique? We also have a range of special effect paints to add even more personality to their space (including chalkboard, glow in the dark and metallic paints). Browse the full range here
