custom kitchen cabinets painted blue

The following article takes you through a custom kitchen designed by Good Fella's Furniture Co. Using Tikkurila's products on the modern oak and MDF cabinets- they created a kitchen that is not only bespoke but timeless.

Preparation

The team started by cutting pieces of MDF and oak for the custom-built cabinets and kitchen island. Each piece was then carefully machine sanded, creating a smooth surface ready to prime.

It was primed with Helmi, a hard-wearing, durable primer for interior wood and furniture- to prepare the wood for the topcoat. After the primer dried, the cabinets and kitchen island were sanded again to ensure a smooth, glossy finish.

Painting

With the surfaces perfectly prepared, it was time to apply the topcoat. The client requested a custom shade using Tikkurila's colour-matching service to achieve the desired colour.

For the woodwork, Tikkurila Helmi 10 was the ideal choice. Helmi 10 is a hard-wearing, water-based, acrylic paint for interior wood and furniture that provides a matt finish.
