In this post, we'll walk you through the process of a front door repair, skillfully completed by Professional decorator, Dave Molyneux. Dave's expertise has restored this wood door beautifully and ensured long-term durability from the elements.
Before and after

Preparation & Priming
When repairing a front door, the best results come from detailed preparation. Dave began by filling in any critical holes or cracks in the door and then sanding it down to the natural wood. The purpose of this was to prevent further damage as well as provide a clean surface for the new finishes to adhere to.
To ensure a solid base for the top coat, the door was primed with Otex Adhesion Primer, this solvent-based primer is ideal for projects with previously painted surfaces.

Painting
With prep all done, it’s time for the top coat! In this case, the customer requested a custom paint colour in a high-gloss finish which was achieved using Tikkurila’s Custom Colour Matching Service. Dave chose to use Miranol, this paint offers a showstopping mirror-like finish.
