Blackpool Zoo, a place filled with captivating wildlife and immersive experiences, is not only home to its animal residents but also to its dedicated staff. When faced with a classroom in need of some TLC due to water damage from a pesky roof leak, they turned to LSM Painting Specialists to bring new life to the space.

This project not only addressed practical concerns but also created an atmosphere that adds to the magic of the zoo experience. Preparation & Priming

Before the transformation could begin, the first order of business was addressing the water damage that had plagued the classroom walls. All the flaking paint was scraped away, followed with a coat of bridging sealer leaving a clean canvas for the upcoming renovation.

To ensure a lasting and smooth finish, Optiva Primer was the choice for priming the walls. This essential step not only provides a solid foundation but also helps in preventing future paint issues. One coat of Optiva Primer was applied to all surfaces, setting the stage for the vibrant transformation to come.

Painting

Now, it was time to breathe new life into the classroom. Optiva 5 matt paint took center stage for the topcoat, promising both beauty and durability. To achieve the desired finish, three coats of Optiva 5 were applied, ensuring a rich and flawless appearance that would withstand the demands of a busy zoo space.

But this renovation wasn't just about function; it was also about creating an atmosphere that harmonised with the surroundings. Blackpool Zoo had a vision to have colours that worked seamlessly with the murals in the area, creating a cosy space for both staff and visitors.

With careful consideration, the shades Hearts and Basilica were selected. Hearts M323 brought warmth and a sense of community, while Basilica M384 added depth and a touch of tranquility. Together, they formed a perfect backdrop that complemented the captivating murals, transforming the classroom into a vibrant and inviting space.
