A vintage charm gets a fresh twist. Join us as we delve into the process of reviving a vintage wooden cabinet through the magic of upcycling. Moray Interiors used their creativity, skills and some Tikkurila paints to breathe a new life into this classic piece, giving it a new look that marries classic elegance with contemporary flair.

The first step involved a thorough cleaning to remove all the dirt and dust.
Next, Moray Interiors used a 120 grit sandpaper to remove the old varnish and ensure the surface was super smooth. This helped the new paint stick really well and bring out the wood's unique patterns.
Once the cabinet was cleaned and sanded, a coat of Helmi Primer was applied to provide the cabinet with a solid base prior to the topcoat application.

With the primer coat all dry and set, it was time to apply the topcoat.
Moray Interiors opted for a topcoat from the same range as the primer in a matt finish called Helmi 10. Helmi is Tikkurila's best-selling interior wood paint system that offers a hard-wearing, durable finish.
But here's the cool part: the colour used wasn't just one colour. Moray Interiors mixed three colours together to make this custom olive green shade.
The parts that weren't painted with the Helmi system were treated with a dark oak wood stain to revive the original wood.
