We have two different paint finishes for flooring. Our oil-based Floor Paint, Betolux, has an attractive and extremely tough gloss finish. Betolux Akva is a revolutionary water-based alternative, with a slightly lower sheen level. This highly versatile and quick-drying floor paint allows for a fast turnaround and re-commissioning of the room. Painting the floor is an easy yet dramatic way to change the feel of a room and, with most of the Tikkurila UK colour range at your fingertips, you can be as bold or as subtle as you like.
- Wash down with Tikkurila roof cleaning agent. Alloys often have a covering of oil from manufacturing which needs to be removed. Even after exposure to the elements, the oils can persist. It is essential to remove these oils to ensure primers and topcoats adhere correctly.
- All surfaces must be dry and roughened to form a ‘key’ prior to priming. The temperature of the ambient air, surface or paint should not fall below + 5 ºC during application or drying.
- If previously painted, remove any loose and flaking coatings and feather off any edges.
- Good ventilation and sufficient air movement is required in confined areas during application and drying
Apply basecoat of Rostex Super Akva
Suitable topcoats include Everal Aqua, Helmi or Akvitop DS25.

Aluminium is tricky to paint due to adhesion but if correct preparation is undertaken a solid and durable paint film can be achieved
- Wash down with Tikkurila roof cleaning agent, ensure all areas of white rust (oxidation) are removed, along with grease and contamination. To remove white oxidation a fine grade non-metallic sandpaper can be used
- All surfaces must be dry. The temperature of the ambient air, surface, or paint should not fall below + 5 ºC during application or drying.
- If previously painted, remove any loose and flaking coatings and feather off any edges.

Painting bathroom walls and ensuring a long-lasting, stain-free finish is simple and effective however proper preparation, application, and curing is essential. There are two main paint options available to Tikkurila customers wishing to refresh bathroom walls. Our standard trade option is Optiva 5. This product will provide a wipeable surface and is suitable for bathrooms and other similar environments where good ventilation is installed and high levels of prolonged moisture exposure will not be expected. Luja is our high-performance system and is suitable for environments where ventilation is a problem and high levels of constant humidity and moisture are present e.g. swimming pools, wet rooms and surfaces where mould propagation are an issue.
- Wash down all surfaces with an appropriate cleaning agent. If the surface is mouldy wash down with Tikkurila Mould Removal solution
- The surface to be painted must be dry, the temperature of the air at least +5 ºC, and the relative humidity of the air below 80 %.
- Remove dirt and dust from the unpainted surfaces. If necessary, fill holes and cracks with suitable Tikkurila Presto filler (for walls) or Tikkurila Spakkeli filler (for wood).
- Sand the filler and remove sanding dust. Stir Luja finishing paint well before use. Apply two finishing coats by brush, roller or spray.
Wash down previously painted surfaces and let them dry. Remove any loose, flaking paint with a scraper, sand hard, glossy surfaces to a matt finish and remove sanding dust. Fill holes and cracks with a suitable filler. Sand the filler and remove sanding dust. Prime if necessary.

It is possible to paint brass, however, and the trick is to properly clean and prime the metal before painting. This will provide a good surface for the paint to stick to, and make the painting job smoother, more even, and longer-lasting

Most ceramic tiles can be painted, as long as it's not frequently subjected to water or heavy wear. For instance, you can paint tiles on a bathroom wall, but avoid painting tiles that line a bathtub, shower, or that are on the floor or a countertop. It is essential that all primers and topcoats are allowed to CURE fully prior to washing or cleaning, please refer to individual product data sheets for curing times.
Wash tiles thoroughly with Tikkurila cleaning agent or any good quality readily available home cleaning material. Avoid cleaning agents that leave a residue or contain light aggregate. These leave a deposit and will cause a loss of adhesion.

In either case, as long as the copper plumbing has been properly prepared and the correct paint is used, you can paint copper plumbing successfully for decorative, aesthetic or practical purposes.
Preparing
Lightly sand the outside of the copper tubing to remove all of the oxidation. Use a fine 400-grit sandpaper, and sand until the copper is shiny to the eye
